Requirements

  • Identification Card / SSN Card
  • Background Check
  • High-School Diploma or GED
  • Completed a training program Prior to Applying
  • Passed the State-Administered Competency Exam 
  • Soft skills: Excellent communication skills, empathy, patience, and the ability to work well with clients and their families

Responsibilities

  • Help patients with bathing, dressing, and using the toilet
  • Assist patients with eating, drinking, and taking medication
  • Help patients move around, such as getting in and out of bed, and turning in bed
  • Monitor patients' vital signs, such as blood pressure and temperature 
  • Monitor patients' food, water, and medication intake
  • Observe and report changes in patients' health, behavior, and vital signs
  • Help patients with personal hygiene
  • Respond to patient requests and calls
  • Help with admitting, transferring, and discharging patients
  • Apply non-prescription dressings, ice packs, and heat treatments
  • Prepare patient rooms with medical equipment, blankets, pillows, and toiletries
  • Listen to patients' health concerns
  • Report information to nurses
  • Assist nurses and hospital staff
